Why do we tolerate congressional abuse? How can we be sold the notion that while we spend billions in Iraq and Afganistan entitlements are draining the bugget?

Abuses (to name a few) follow: 1. Paid for (by lobbyists contributors and taxpayers) extensive/expensive world travel families in tow. Supposedly curtailed (reform 2007). Don't believe it. Now it's authorized by their own ethics committee..major payor Aspen Institute. 2. Automat raises which they themselves legislated (in order not to look bad voting for them..we didn't get any for more than 10 years): Congress went from making $162,500 (2006) to $169,00 (2008). 3. Two-thirds paid healthcare (from us) while we do without. 4. FERS retirement plan while most of us no longer have one available. 5. Putting spouse/family on campaign payrolls which have the propensity to find their way to personal bank accounts. 6. Very few working days, the 109th congress worked 103 days in 2006, while the rest of us are either unemployed, underemployed (like them but without salaried pay) or slave for at least twice that time. 7. No term limits...a revolving door instead with implanted ways to keep an incumbent in. Check out Dick Morris/Eileen McGann's book, Outrage. Now our enemy, congress, which has been nice enough to give us increased interest on student loans (Bush's Deficit Reduction Act 2005), a higher bar for Chapter 7 bankruptcy (Bush), wants/will cut all entitlements (how is social security an entitlement unless one becomes disabled in midlife). Should we write in someone/anyone (Robert Redford?) for congress on the next vote? Will we survive until the next election?

Ah, yes the "transparent" government of Obama is kind of misleading in what propaganda they put out.
It is ok for the Dems to do this or that, wrong for the republicans to do the same thing.
Illegals are taking "good" american jobs, but lets not mention the 6 Million jobs that our multi national companies shipped overseas.
Then the Wars - lest we forget about the bombing of Libya too.
I think congress and the president think if the think it the American people will believe it.
Then if they get ABC, CBS and NBC to broadcast the propaganda, it is even more believable.
They think that Americans are stupid - that is what it has to be it.
I do not tolerate it any more - I moved out of the country.
I'd rather live in a country where the leader says - I steal - then I know what I have to do.
To live in a country full of liars and cheats that by stealing from me they tell meI am better off?
I'd rather not be there.
They will continue to abuse as long as the American Citizen allows it.
That looks like it can go on forever - Americans have lost the backbone to stand up straight, I believe. They do not mind bending over for congressman, presidents and FED board members.
Cheers,

Thank you for your response. Though I don't agree that either party suffers for the transgressions of the other, "The dems do this or that, wrong for the republicans to do the same thing", I do think that both mislead with legislation, lobbying & earmarking deals, for which the term 'misleading', let alone the lack of transparency, is understatement. The government does indeed refuse to deal in any viable manner with illegal immigration (as a matter of fact, doesn't even deal with legal immigration, take a look at the expired/falsified visas of the 9-11 highjackers), and instead gives us a diluted 'path to citizenship' (for everybody - we surmise since no one will say they didn't grow up here) pacifier to suck on. The corporations have moved to countries with low pay employees, most owned by this country's wealthy, who enjoy little or no income tax. We are constantly blaming entitlement programs instead of 2 wars spaning > ten years, for draining the economy while the war profiteers laugh all the way to the bank, and the 'untouchables', the poor, old, & sick just do without and wait for death. American citizens, with the one exception of the late 60's, early 70's generation (bless them) which did rebel, just bend over for an a____ f_____ing. It really makes one ashamed. How did you get out?
