Old Bankruptcy Papers Will Pacer work for copies from 1988-1990 in TX |
Answer 1/1 - Submitted 2/18/2012
The PACER system is the federal court's Public Access to Court Electronic Records system which allows people to search court records that are electronic and internet based. Most cases filed prior to 1999 are only in paper form and are not a part of the PACER system.
So if you are wondering about a bankruptcy case dating back to 1988 or 1990, it would be too old for the PACER system. However you should be able to go to the Bankruptcy Court in the jurisdiction where the case was filed and it should still be available in paper form. Bankruptcy cases are part of the public record and you should be able to review those if you ask a court clerk to locate the case and retrieve the file for you.
