Gunnallen holdings

I am trying to determine if GUNNALLEN HOLDINGS, a Florida registered company is still in business. GUNNALLEN FINANCIAL has filed for Bankruptcy, but I own a Debenture that is with GAH.

I am sorry to report that GunnAllen Financial was forced to close down its operations in March of this year by the Financial Regulatory Agency (FinRA).

According to the June, 2010 issue of Financial Planning (p. 35): "It [GunnAllen] repeatedly ran afoul of FINRA for a variety of deficiencies -- including problems with complaint reporting, recordkeeping, supervision and the failure to implement an adequate anti-money laundering compliance program."

As for how to get information on your Debenture, I would start by getting a hold of your advisor (if the Debenture was under his management). Nearly all of the 400 reps and advisors with GunnAllen, I suspect, want to move their Clients' Assets to the new firm that they have been looking for (whichever firm that is). Your advisor should be able to help you move your investments to the new firm with (hopefully) only a small delay.

Good Luck to you!

Gunnallen financial has their bankruptcy court hearing on July 12th in Tampa, Florida. I am unable to contact anyone with Gunnallen holdings or gunnallen financial. Therefore, I am seeking clarification if I should send in a creditor claim to the court for gunnallen financial, eventhough it appears that Gunnallen holdings is still in business ON PAPER ONLY.

I had thought you said GAH was holding a Debenture (as in Custody of Assets) for you when you said that the Debenture was "with GAH." Since it now seems that you actually hold a Debenture 'on GunnAllen' (thus implying that you loaned money to them, in this case in the form of a Bond) I would recommend finding a few attorneys and asking them if it is worth it to file a creditor claim.

Normally, I would suggest filing such a claim so that your investment doesn't get lost in the paperwork of everyone else's claims to the firm's assets. Depending on how senior your Debenture is, you may or may not get back at least a portion of what was considered your investment.

I wish you good luck and good speed as you seek to protect your investment!

Answer 4/4 - Submitted 7/8/2010

I think this is the best answer. It appears that Gunnallen Holdings is still solvent but owes nothing so it is like a shell company. Gunnallen Financial is the last of their companies and in bankruptcy court. So finding a lawyer, perhaps in the Tampa area would be my best bet. I have contacted the bankruptcy lawyer for Gunnallen Financial with no results. I have contacted the state of Florida, Secretary office with no real results, except they did tell me that Gunnallen Holdings still exists!!!
